This NGC MS-64 1881-CC GSA Morgan silver dollar displays satisfying eye appeal for its grade. The surfaces are practically fully white and display a wonderful glossy sheen. The details on all the raised devices display machine-stamped sharpness. A handful of minor contact marks are scattered on the obverse’s upper and lower left fields. Several tiny ones tick Lady Liberty’s face. Whiffs of translucent haze glide across the lower left obverse field around stars 1 – 4.

The reverse easily qualifies for at least an MS-66 rating. Its surfaces are extremely clean. A delicate auburn-colored tint gently veils (nearly undetectable) the lower reverse rim below OLL in DOLLAR. If the obverse matched the reverse’s exquisiteness, the overall grade for this coin would hover around MS-67!

A collector cannot expect much more from an MS-64-rated 1881-CC GSA dollar.
