This is a superb, Gem-quality 1885-CC GSA Morgan silver dollar certified by NGC. Ironically, even with its MS-66 condition rating, this is one of the GSA dollars that does not feature the word “UNCIRCULATED” on its holder, due to it having just a kiss of auburn-colored toning on the obverse periphery toward the bottom. When the GSA processors inspected and categorized the hoard, oftentimes toned silver dollars were disqualified from receiving the “UNCIRCULATED” designation, even though many times, the quality of these coins was superior to the ones that did receive it.

Along with the slight patina, the obverse displays blast-white, lustrous surfaces and crisp, bold details. The reverse is completely stark white, with radiant cartwheel reflection coming from near-prooflike fields surrounding frosty raised devices. Contact marks are minimal, and none detract from the coin’s eye appeal.
