This is an exceptional example of the eighth lowest output date from the Carson City $10 gold piece series. The strike is bold and well defined. The color is a vibrant golden-yellow. Almost 90% of the coin’s original luster remains. There is a semi-Prooflike appearance to the coin’s fields. Small patches of hairlines and minimal scattered contact marks are visible on both sides. Wear is visible on the high points, although this is not what your eyes focus on when you first view this coin. The overall beauty of it is what first catches your eye. Truly, this is a well-preserved piece from an original mintage of just 6,784 coins.
This is as close to the quality one could expect from an 1882-CC eagle that is not rated Mint State. And this specimen’s cost falls noticeably below the price of a Mint State piece.
