Most dealers and collectors would call this a mostly-white specimen. Just for accuracy, though, its surfaces are veiled with a light translucent haze. Also, tiny russet-colored specks blend into the obverse fields, although they are not immediately visible until the coin is tilted.
Contact marks are scattered across both sides, more so on the obverse than the reverse. The reverse’s central right field displays a noticeable vertical scrape between the eagle’s right wing and the leaves.
Details on all raised devices are well-defined.
This is an average quality example of this date in the Carson City Morgan silver dollar series. CAC approved it.
VAM enthusiasts call this the “Spitting Eagle” variety because of a small raised orb of metal on the upper reverse field, seemingly expectorated from the eagle’s beak. (This is not designated on the PCGS label.)
