(Amy, Marie, and Rusty showing off the "voodoo" Fall Basket)
Well, it's that time of year again–the leaves are starting to change, days are getting shorter, and Southgate Coins is getting festive! All month long we've been working hard at making the autumn season come to life inside our store. We've bought some yummy-smelling burning oils like "Pumpkin Spice," "Fire Wood," and "Spiced Cider," as well as some appropriate decorations to make our showroom keeps up with the changing weather. We're all pitching in our opinions about where to hang the autumn wreath, as well as where to put the sparkly pumpkin candles, and each of us is adding our own touch for the beginning of the holiday season.
For instance, just the other day Amy surprised us with a little, decorated basket full of Southgate voodoo dolls! No… just kidding… they were little scarecrows made of straw for each of the employees here in the store. I would have to say it's quite adorable. (And no, I haven't tried pricking one to see if its respective employee feels the pain… yet!)
For me, on the other hand, I have been having more of a difficult time getting my festive basket together! Marie let me borrow one of her baskets, and my idea was to fill them with pinecones coated in glitter and/or cinnamon. Sounds great, right? We'd have a great little display smelling of lovely cinnamon, and I could be proud of the little project I took on. Well, to my dismay, I went to UNR's campus to try and find some nice-looking, fluffed-out pinecones, and they haven't even grown on the pine trees yet! All that's there is little scrawny, green, baby-pinecones, and those just are not very cute for a holiday decoration. So, I'm back to the drawing board!
I think I may have to make a trip to my local craft store to see if they have any adorable-looking pine cones. How was I to know that it's the wrong time of year to get them fresh?
Well, I hope all of you out there in cyber-land come and visit our cutely-decorated, sweet-smelling store this autumn. You certainly wouldn't want to miss out on all the fun we're having! From all of us here in the store to all of you: Good tidings this beautiful season, and enjoy the gorgeous weather!
