Carson City Coin Show

This time of the year seems to drag on and on due to the hot summer heat, the constant threat of wildfires, and of course preparing for those end-of-summer events and festivities. But you know the dog days of summer don’t have us down here at Southgate!

Preparations are underway for our store to attend the annual Carson City Coin Show at the Nevada State Museum on Saturday and Sunday the 25th and 26th of August. I encourage you to make the trip over the hill (you Renoites that is) and attend this exciting event. The show runs both days from 8:30 A.M. until the late afternoon hours. Adults are $5, seniors are $3, and children under the age of 18 are free at the door.

Be sure and pick up a couple of raffle tickets while you are there, as the grand prize this year is a spectacular one featuring two of our pride and joy "CC" coins in a beautiful display frame courtesy of yours truly. The two coins featured in this grand prize display are an 1875-CC Trade dollar in Almost Uncirculated condition and an 1883-CC GSA silver dollar in Uncirculated condition. The two "CC" coins act as the bookends in the frame with a magnificent photo of the Carson City Mint in the middle of the display. Underneath each of the three items Rusty has written descriptions for each, as it is not just the coins that came from the “CC” mint that are special, but also the history surrounding it.

Also on Saturday the 25th from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. be sure to stop by the book signing table at the show featuring our very own award winning author, Rusty Goe, as he will be promoting the new James Crawford book at that time.

For more information regarding the show please contact the Nevada State Museum directly at (775) 687-4810 ext. 237. And if you can’t make it, you can always count on us to bring you the play-by-play in one of our famous weblogs after the event – it’s almost like being there!

See you at the show!
