August is always a busy month at Southgate Coins. First, we always fly Rusty out to where ever the ANA’s World’s Fair of Money Convention is (this year it was Chicago), then, we know at the end of the month we’ll be preparing for not only a local coin show, but for part of the staff to go back to school.
This August was no different, and was perhaps even busier than normal with the recent spike (and subsequent plummet) in precious metals prices. But nevertheless, Southgate’s Free Lunch Friday tradition perseveres. Here’s where we went this month:
- Mimi’s Café – A long-time favorite of Southgate Girls, Mimi’s Café features a French-themed menu, complete with breakfast all day long. Nicole took full advantage of this, getting a platter of pancakes, over-easy eggs, bacon, and hash browns.
- Famous Dave’s – Since this restaurant opened, we have been happy repeat-customers, always stuffing ourselves full of their delicious barbeque and home-style cooking.
- McDonald’s – We thought we were going to be disappointed because our order was delayed, but when we found out it was for McDonald’s famous fries, we figured it would be worth it... it was!
- Bru-Go’s and Taco Bell – The last Friday of August split our staff between Southgate Coins and the Carson City Coin Show. While Nicole enjoyed Bru-Go’s pizza with Marie here at the store, Rusty and I feasted on some Taco Bell goodies at the Nevada State Museum. Special Thanks to good friend and C4OAer Michael Parrott for picking up lunch!
Rain or shine, snow or sleet, coin shows or not, we always make time to keep up the Free Lunch Friday tradition. This month we got 5 treats in 4 weeks—what a deal!
