As you’ve read in our recent weblogs, the month of May always brings “birthday madness” here at the store. Rounding out the spring birthdays is Miss Nicole, turning the big 2-2 this year. Read more to find out how we honored Nicole on her fourth birthday celebration at Southgate Coins.
It seems like just yesterday that Nicole turned 19 years old. At that point, she was still just a baby, testing her wings in the world. Now, with Nicole hitting the 22-year-old milestone, Marie, Rusty, and I (Maya) realize we’ve gotten to watch her grow and turn into a full-fledged adult. We’re all so happy that we’ve gotten to share the past three and a half years with her as a coworker and friend.
With just Nicole and I on staff, the Goes prepare a special treat for us (and Rusty) to celebrate our birthdays each year. This year, we all went to Claim Jumper fill our bellies on their delicious food.
Even after the group event, we never forget to honor Nicole as an individual. This year, Nicole’s summer school schedule prevented us from partying with her on her actual birthday, but we had no problem making do with the day before. On May 30, Nicole came to work and saw a decorated back-office, complete with Happy Birthday signs and banners, a festive, tie-dye-themed balloon, and some pink, potted flowers. (The tag on the flowers said they were calla lilies, but after Googling that type of flower, I’m convinced they’re another, unknown flower species!) As always, Nicole was flattered and giggly because of our efforts.
Rusty and Marie went all-out in ordering Nicole a chocolate-raspberry cake from our favorite local bakery. The cake was delicious. We were surprised when Rusty was able to place the hint of a mystery flavor in the frosting as mocha—it added just the right kick to set off the raspberry filling.
I hope Nicole’s 22nd year brings her as much joy as her 21st. I know we all certainly had fun on her behalf.
Happy birthday, Nicole!
♥ Maya (and Rusty and Marie, too!)
